What We Do

At The Flare Project, our mission extends beyond the notes and rhythms of music; it's about empowering young individuals with the skills, confidence, and opportunities to transform their lives. We envision a future where every young person, regardless of their background, has access to the tools and knowledge to pursue their passion for music and sound engineering. Through our comprehensive and inclusive programme, we aim to break down the socio-economic barriers that often hinder access to the music industry, fostering a new generation of artists, producers, technicians and audio professionals who will diversify and enrich the cultural landscape.

Our Project will offer various programmes, and opportunities for our enrolled students:

Training Sessions: These sessions form the backbone of our educational offering, covering everything from the basics of music theory and sound engineering to advanced techniques in music production, mixing, and mastering. Led by industry professionals, these sessions equip students with the technical know-how and creative skills necessary to succeed in the music industry.

Interactive Workshops: Our workshops are designed to be hands-on and engaging, allowing students to apply what they've learned in a collaborative environment. Topics range from digital audio workstation (DAW) proficiency and live sound setup to songwriting and beat making, providing a well-rounded understanding of the music production process.

Real-World Projects: To bridge the gap between education and the industry, students engage in real-world projects that challenge them to utilise their skills in practical scenarios. These projects include creating and producing tracks, collaborating on album projects, and organising live performances, giving students a taste of what to expect in their future careers.

Field Trips and Studio Visits: To complement our in-house training, we intend to organise field trips to recording studios, event spaces, theatres, stadia and other cultural institutions. These trips offer students a behind-the-scenes look at the professional world of music and arts, exposing them to potential career paths and expanding their understanding of the industry.

Community Projects: Central to our ethos is the belief in giving back to the community. Through various projects, students have the opportunity to use their newly acquired skills for social good, whether by participating in community performances, organising charity concerts, or teaching music workshops to younger children.

The Flare Project is more than just a music programme; it's an all inclusive project designed to nurture, inspire, and empower. We're committed to creating a supportive and dynamic environment where young talents can thrive, innovate, and lead the way to a more inclusive and diverse music industry.

How We Do It

At The Flare Project, we recognise that the journey into music and sound engineering is as diverse as the individuals we mentor. In response to this, and to meet demand of the local community, we've thoughtfully segmented our programmes into three distinct age groups: 13-16, 16-18, and 18-25. This allows us to tailor our curriculum to meet the developmental needs, interests, and aspirations of our students at every stage of their growth.

A session is held at the local community level, whether in Schools, Religious Centres, and other Community Hubs, we bring our services direct to the community. We offer our services practically anywhere in the region due to our Efficient Solar Power Solution. A tutor will transport all equipment required to provide sessions for up to 5 students, this is a maximum number and wholly dependant on the specific needs of the individuals that we work with. A session would normally last between 3 & 5 hours depending on the age, skill of student, and session activity. We build clear and transparent relationships with the young people we work with, setting clear, attainable objectives, each session enabling skill progression and confidence building in an environment that fosters and supports creative expression.

An idea of session content:
13-16 Years: Foundations and Exploration For our youngest cohort, the focus is on igniting passion and curiosity for music and sound. The curriculum introduces the fundamentals of music theory, digital audio workstations (DAWs), and basic sound engineering concepts. Interactive workshops and projects are designed to foster creativity and teamwork, providing a solid foundation upon which students can build.

16-18 Years: Specialisation and Skill Development As students mature, our programme shifts towards more specialised skills and deeper exploration of music production and sound engineering. This includes advanced training sessions on mixing, mastering, and live sound management, along with opportunities for students to undertake individual and group projects that challenge their creativity and technical abilities.

18-25 Years: Professional Preparation and Real-World Experience For our oldest group, the emphasis is on professional readiness and real-world experience. Here, The Flare Project sets itself apart by offering opportunities that extend far beyond traditional music production education services. We hope to set our students with the right skills that will put them in the best place possible for future employment with the wider Arts, as it continues to diversify.

How We Are Different

Industry Demand Alignment: Our curriculum is carefully designed to align with current industry demands. By staying attuned to the evolving landscape of music and sound engineering, we ensure that our training programmes equip students with the skills and knowledge that employers value.

Community PA Hire Company: A standout initiative for our 18+ students is the operation of a community PA hire company. We hope this future venture not only serves actual, legal and professionally organised, community events in the region, but also provides our students with invaluable hands-on experience in the event industry. By managing all aspects of PA system setup and operation, students gain practical skills that are highly sought after in the live sound and event management sectors.

Confident Employability: Our goal is to ensure that students are not just employable but inspire confidence in those looking to give them a job. Through comprehensive training, real-world experience, and mentorship, we prepare students to enter the workforce with confidence and competence in new found skills.

The Flare Project's comprehensive approach extends beyond teaching students how to make music; it encompasses a full spectrum of industry-related training and experiences. By focusing on where the demand for work currently lies and offering top-class training, we pave the way for our students to have not only a job but a thriving career in the music and event industries.

Together, we're not just creating music - we're building futures
